The inspiration for this painting came from the tiny cabins on Hollyburn Mountain.  They were originally built in the 1920’s and 1930’s and many still remain today.  All the cabins were built with timbers in the vicinity of the cabin site.  Today the sites are leased from the municipality and it is my understanding that as long as the cabins are well maintained they stay, however if a cabin becomes decrepit it is taken over by the city and pulled down.  The late 1930’s was a period of time when my dad was active on Hollyburn and built a cabin, unfortunately his cabin burnt down.
