Still Life

Started plein air at VanDusen Botanical Gardens, and although impossible to get a Canadian Goose to stay still for long, I did manage to finish up the painting from a few sketches and photos.

Lola is a very sweet friend of mine.  Low and sturdy in stature she has a wonderful personality all her own.

Set against the vintage wallpaper background, the retro rotary dial phone has been witness to countless messages, tears and stories.

A very young man so full of life!!

We are into October and the colourful pumpkins are out!!  I bought this little pumpkin because of the lovely long handle.

I caught another of the cutest spirits in graphite on a cradled panel.  So fun!!

One of the sweetest little guys I know and it was a pleasure to do a sketch of him!

This cute young girl is looking very pleased with herself!  I have primed the pine boards with a tinted thick gesso.  This leaves some brush marks on the board which I really enjoy working with.
