Vesuvius Bay, Salt Spring – SOLD 8 x 10, acrylic on canvas
From the community Crofton on Vancouver Island a ferry will take you to Vesuvius on Salt Spring Island. The beach on Vesuvius Bay is partly made up of sculpted sandstone, so typical of the Gulf Islands. This particular view captures the ferry at the dock with its reflection in the bay.
Gabriola Island 16 x 20, oil on cradled panel
This view is from the beach in the beautiful Drumbeg Provincial Park on Gabriola Island. The thin row of trees in the distance are markedly unique and allow the light to shine through the trunks of the trees. Much of the beach is sandstone that is shaped by sea worn crevasses.

I was hiking along Pachena Bay, in Bamfield, last summer and looked back into the bay and took a photo. The beauty of the landscape and the lines in the image wanted to be a painting.

The light at the end of the day shines on a quiet Eagle Harbour. The setting sun shines on to the rocks and shining through the trees a lovely contrast is developed. Even on a very cold winter’s day the light on the landscape warms my heart.

I was fortunate to have been at Cox Bay and it is a beautiful 1.5 km. beach with amazing rock outcroppings! The sunset was stunning! I painted this piece from a sketch I did on site and a photo I took. This piece received Honourable Mention at the Federation Gallery.
