This is a painting of a bronze sculpture by George Lundeen who is an American Sculptor. Here is what George had to say about his sculpture, “The original piece came from a sketch I did in the Rome train station. There were a couple of kids across from me on the marble floor. It became the first life-size piece I ever did.” The original work was completed over two years, beginning in 1984. George has reproduced this bronze piece several times. In 2013 the sculpture was gifted to the VanDusen Botanical Garden Association and “Departure” became part of VanDusen Botanical Gardens.
This painting will be on display in a group show at Van Dusen Botanical Gardens Library from October through December.
