Painted plein aire today at VanDusen Botanical Gardens. Every one of my painter friends painted the beautiful colour and the flowers in the gardens and I painted a local resident!! Accepted in to the Federation Gallery for the Vancouver Salon 2020 Exhibition.
Painting
Forefather
This is a graceful old stump from a large and old growth tree. There are hundred of old stumps in and around the forest. Painted up the mountains, near where I live, I began this piece plein aire.
Young Man 4
One of the sweetest little guys I know and it was a pleasure to do a sketch of him!
Young Lady 4
This cute young girl is looking very pleased with herself! I have primed the pine boards with a tinted thick gesso. This leaves some brush marks on the board which I really enjoy working with.
Young man 3
Another beautifully happy young fellow, so fun to sketch!
Young man 2
A pleasure to draw the beautiful eyes of this little one.
Early Evening View
This time of year the sun sets behind Bowen Island, but before it disappears behind the island, it throws a reflection out onto the water. Little Passage Island is in the painting to the left.
Young Lady 3
Another lovely little one who has the most beautiful hair!!
Young Man
This little fellow is full of life and it shines through in his lovely big smile!! So far I have been using just one pencil, an HB, and getting all the effects I am after.
Young Lady 2
Although this is not a still life it is a category that I am choosing to file the new sketches I have done of the kids. New for me to do and so fun!! This little girl loves to dance to the music of Swan Lake!
