A land mass that is naturally isolated by water due to the surrounding topography is an island. To a certain extent it becomes a unique ecological micro habitat that exists within a larger ecosystem. The small islets on the West Coast continue to intrigue me!!

Painted at VanDusen Botanical Gardens. Although not the focal paint of the painting, what attracted me to the scene was the background trees. The light washed out the distant trees turning them shades of turquoise and teal.
