Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver is home to a most photographed tiny island, Whyte Islet. This was a very special commission piece done for a a very thoughtful fellow who had a plan to propose to his girlfriend in the park in front of Whyte islet. As part of his plan he wanted a painting to remind them of the memorable moment. I had not met him, we had only communicated via email so the day arrived and I headed out to the park with the painting under my arm looking for the likely couple and when I got down to the beach, in the distance, I saw a fellow get down on one knee in front of his girlfriend. What a magical moment! A few minutes later they were coming along the beach and I congratulated them. With big small on his face and a happy tear in her eye, I introduced myself and I handed them the painting. A memorable day for all!
