Serendipity Vineyards 24 x 36 acrylic on canvas - sold

April 15, 2017By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

Warm light in the late afternoon in the vineyards!! This piece was named Serendipity Vineyards because it does not represent a specific vineyard, but was painted in the studio from several photos I took. It is not always easy for an artist to decide when a piece is finished, however it is good to put … Read More

Birch Trees at Van Dusen 8 x 10 acrylic on canvas

April 15, 2017By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

This piece was painted at Van Dusen botanical Gardens on a pleasantly warm day.  The white trunks and the fresh new spring foliage of cool yellow and green on the Birch trees along with the purple hues of the rhododendrons was a lovely display.

Railtown, Vancouver 30 x 48 acrylic on canvas - sold

April 15, 2017By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

This piece was very fun to paint.  Railtown is an industrial area of Vancouver’s Strathcona, but it is fast becoming transformed by creative people of all types. It is bordered by Heatley Avenue on the west, Alexander Street on the south, Columbia Street on the east and the rail yards to the north. One significant … Read More

The date was sultry, the long reflections of this iconic bridge caught my eye and it had to be a painting.  The view is from Granville Island.

Sailing in the Gulf Islands of BC is an sailer’s paradise because the winds are pleasant, the scenery beautiful and the safe anchorages are plentiful. This piece was painted from a photo I took when we were at anchor and settled for the evening. Sold at the North Vancouver Arts Council Anonymous Show.

Whistler 8 x 10 acrylic on canvas - sold

April 13, 2017By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

I saw this painting hanging on the wall at a friends house; I painted it about 12 years ago. Not the best photo of it, but I was pleased to see it on the wall and I think it is still a viable piece!

Light Pattern at the Docks 2 20 x 24 acrylic on canvas - sold

Freighters are such a big part of the identity of Vancouver. They anchor out in the harbour waiting their turn at the docks. With some artistic licence I painted this piece from a photo I took when riding the seabus from North Vancouver to Vancouver.

Artist Statement

As a visual artist I am always on the lookout for the light or the moment that inspires my next piece. Virtually anything could move me to capture a particular moment, for example, the way the light hits an object, the temperature of the air or a feeling in a particular location. I have always had a passion to create and my goal is to keep painting until it is time to leave. I continue to grow, improve and savour my art as passion drives me forever forward with my work.
