Journey – A Sense of Place 20 x 24, acrylic on canvas

Journey – A Sense of Place 20 x 24, acrylic on canvas

November 15, 2019By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

The softness of the winter snow brings a sense of quiet stillness to the landscape.  In the stillness, time actually seems to slow down and the mind delights in the simplicity of minimal stimulation.  In the quietness of such a forest when the mind slows, the body touches the soul and reaches for a sense … Read More

The little fishing village known as Quidi Vidi is located just outside of St. John’s  Newfoundland.  The day I was there the wind was a howling but the little harbour was as quiet anything and the boats were virtually not moving.   When I painted this piece I felt the need to take some liberties … Read More

Artist Statement

As a visual artist I am always on the lookout for the light or the moment that inspires my next piece. Virtually anything could move me to capture a particular moment, for example, the way the light hits an object, the temperature of the air or a feeling in a particular location. I have always had a passion to create and my goal is to keep painting until it is time to leave. I continue to grow, improve and savour my art as passion drives me forever forward with my work.
