The west coast never ceases to capture my interest!!  All so unique!!  A sea stack is a geological landform of rock that has formed by erosion from crashing waves.  The pillars of rock are often important nesting ground for seabirds.

This piece was painted plein air in Stanley Park.  The relationship of the red umbrellas to the shadows of the scene could not have been any better, if I had placed the umbrellas myself!!  The light on them set the whole scene off!!  The Pavilion building is located amidst the rose gardens of the park … Read More

The sun filtering through the water and catching on the backs of the sockeye and the red of the fish reflecting on the underside of the surface of the water was the play of light and colour that grabbed my interest!!  The sockeye salmon are an amazing rich colour of red.  So intensely red in … Read More

June 16, 2017By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

Framed by the purple shadowed trees, the light lit trees in the centre of the piece caught my eye and begged to be painted!!  This view of the shadow streaked snow is out my backyard in the winter time.   I painted from the vantage point of looking out the window, it in the comfort … Read More

Artist Statement

As a visual artist I am always on the lookout for the light or the moment that inspires my next piece. Virtually anything could move me to capture a particular moment, for example, the way the light hits an object, the temperature of the air or a feeling in a particular location. I have always had a passion to create and my goal is to keep painting until it is time to leave. I continue to grow, improve and savour my art as passion drives me forever forward with my work.
