Tools of the Trade 6 x 6, acrylic on linen

September 10, 2017By Elizabeth AustinPainting, Still Life No Comments

Tools of the trade says it all!!  I feel like the brushes are actually an extension of my right arm.  Although the tube of paint is made by Golden, I use many other brands.

Here is sneak peek of an illustration for a children’s book I am currently working on.  On her way to Whistler, on the Sea to Sky highway, Coco stops at a information kiosk!!

Spanish Banks, West 12 x 24, acrylic on canvas

September 10, 2017By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

Painted plein air at the western end of Spanish Banks on a lovely day.  The tide was on its way out, so speed was of the essence to capture the dark reflection, of the trees on the point, in the fast receding water.  Upon completion of the painting, my favourite bit is the rocks on … Read More

Small Gathering 10 x 10, acrylic on canvas - sold

September 10, 2017By Elizabeth AustinPainting, Still Life No Comments

White flowers are so fresh and brighten any space; my personal thoughts.  A bit of an impulse buy, for me, at the local florist with the sole intention of bringing it home to paint.  So when I got home, I plunked it in a mason jar, put it in my shadow box and set my … Read More

September 10, 2017By Elizabeth AustinPainting, Still Life No Comments

Mason jars are so versatile!!  From transportable drinking water, to holding a variety of food, to the perfect flower vase!!  This one is no exception and offered me some lovely views of the flower stems through its glass.  The flowers were very fun to set up and paint, but the mason jar was the highlight … Read More

September 10, 2017By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

The morning light on Whyte Island at Whytecliff Park was a real attraction for me and a delight to paint.  The water was a very light celadon green and captured a faint reflection of the island.  As the sun gained height in the sky, the foreground beach picked up the warmth of the day.  Passage … Read More

Safe Anchorage 18 x 36 acrylic on canvas

September 6, 2017By Elizabeth AustinLandscape, Painting No Comments

Along the Coast of British Columbia, there are many coves that offer safe and quiet anchorages for boaters.  Captured at the end of the day, this is but one of the anchorages.

Artist Statement

As a visual artist I am always on the lookout for the light or the moment that inspires my next piece. Virtually anything could move me to capture a particular moment, for example, the way the light hits an object, the temperature of the air or a feeling in a particular location. I have always had a passion to create and my goal is to keep painting until it is time to leave. I continue to grow, improve and savour my art as passion drives me forever forward with my work.
