Original Coastal Spirit 18 x 72, acrylic on canvas
I think the vastness of the west coast is well captured on a long linear canvas!

As the sunset with its light reaches across the water of the lake, the foreground trees are haloed in a subtle light.
A teddy bear waits on the shelf in a little boy’s room with an alphabet frieze on the nursery wall.
Deep in the shadows of the river canyon a shaft of light finds its way through. The single stream of light grows bigger when it hits a small bit of river and hits a few rocks that then reflect into the water.
McIntyre Bluff can be seen from highway 97 and is located between Okanagan Falls and Oliver in British Columbia. There is a fairly well traveled hike that goes to the top of the bluff offering a panoramic view of the valley and the path of the Okangan River.
In the summer this is a favourite swimming place of mine, and others too including my dog, Fynn!! Not sure if it is my imagination but it seems the ocean warms up as the tide rises over the rocks that have been baking in the sun all day. In any event it is very enjoyable!
One of my favourite small piece that I have done. The colour of the ocean and the reflection of the rocks and tree trunks really stand out for me!! High Tide fell off the brush so easily.
The colours on the West Coast are amazingly beautiful!! The vast coastline of British Columbia has such big skies and such variety and dimension with all the thousands of little islets.
