Although the small rock islands and their hardy trees are the main focus of this painting, sitting just above the horizon is a large billowy cumulous cloud. The cloud held particular interest to me with its subtle light shade variations.
As a small technical note I described the cloud with white gesso to give it some relief and texture. With this technique the cloud actually changes slightly in the light of the day and the relief creates its own dimension on the canvas.
