This piece was painted plein air in Stanley Park. The relationship of the red umbrellas to the shadows of the scene could not have been any better, if I had placed the umbrellas myself!! The light on them set the whole scene off!! The Pavilion building is located amidst the rose gardens of the park and dates back to 1911.
