This piece was very fun to paint. Railtown is an industrial area of Vancouver’s Strathcona, but it is fast becoming transformed by creative people of all types. It is bordered by Heatley Avenue on the west, Alexander Street on the south, Columbia Street on the east and the rail yards to the north. One significant building in the area, and featured in this painting, is the Imperial Rice Milling Co. Although it no longer is involved in the rice business, it proudly the retains the original name.
